Magic Thatha

My old school friend remind me about magic thatha and I started to rewind back my school days.

My thatha (gandpa) used to drop me at school everyday his his Made in England cycle. I used to sit in a specially made seat next to handlebar. My school is 10 mins away from my home in cycle. As I do not write notes properly, he used to come to school and write notes from my classmates notebook for me and I will be playing at that time. Well, he started to become student again because of me. He takes down all the notes so that I can read them and pass the exams. He was so optimistic I suppose. My classmate from whom grandpa used to copy the notes, told my class teacher about this in some class and everyone laughed at me. I did not bother much even after that. He is very popular in school and known as magic thatha.

Made in England cycle stops daily in nearby tender coconut shop daily and he says the cycle will not move without buying coconut for me. Funny. I am his pet and never scolds me and always supports me for anything and even if I fail, he goes and assures my teachers that he will do better next time. He fell down from cycle on 19-02-2006 and no longer ride that cycle now though he has the willpower to do ride. We are afraid actually.

I should not revile the magic secrets of the magicians but he does some magic which kids do not understand and bring something by magic. All kids stand around him everyday for magic and he will do that once in while for all of them. My friend is always an admirer of him and he asked me about him few days back. Thatha continues his magic to my sister's daughter even now and she is smart than us and understands what he does. He will not stop magic and he is always 'magic' thatha for all of us.

I went to see sunrise on a Saturday morning. As usual, it is race against time. Reason is we started late from home. But good thing is we won. Here are some of the clicks made from my normal camera.

Home Work

My home in Madras was my grandfather's. I could say my home is 'open house'. Anyone looking the house from outside can tell how many doors and windows the house have. It is a two floor house with an open passage in between and rooms on the either side. The staircase to the first floor 2 rooms is outside. If my mother was asked to manage the house, she will be having 9 to 10 keys with her. Not the locker keys but the door keys. That is not the case. My grandfather is the 'key man' and he kept the keys near the window which anyone can take. I am not going to tell more on this, my actual story is below. My story goes back to 4th or 5 th standard. One of the doors in the house lead to 'dinning hall' because it had the dinning table. This is a place where I put all my books around and do my home work. What is that home work. I never understood anything. I was asked to copy whatever is there in the book to my note. Actually, I was writing a new book. My sister is ...
